Our scoring pillars
- Setup friction — Can a busy person get value in under an hour?
- Day-2 usefulness — Does it still help after the novelty fades?
- Reliability — Crashes, sync issues, broken exports, flaky mobile apps.
- Value — Price versus outcomes for freelancers and small teams.
- Portability & lock-in — How painful is leaving?
Scores are editorial judgments on a 5-point scale, not lab instruments.
How a review gets made
- Define the job-to-be-done (example: “async team updates”).
- Use the product in a realistic workflow for days or weeks when possible.
- Note failures with the same seriousness as features.
- Draft comparison tables only when alternatives are genuinely comparable.
- Separate affiliate incentives from the recommendation.
Affiliate relationships
Some links are affiliates. That can earn us a commission if you buy. It does not let a vendor buy a higher score. If we can’t be honest, we won’t publish.
